Changling Rinpoche was formally recognized by HH Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and Penor Rinpoche as the main teacher of Changchub Ling Nyingma Monastery in Central Tibet. At the age of ten, Rinpoche was enthroned and admitted to Shechen Monastery where he was taught meditation by HH Khyentse Rinpoche and received ordination from Kyabje Trulshik Rinpoche. Changling Rinpoche was granted the khenpo degree from Shechen Philosophical College at the age of 20. Along with having responsibilities at Shechen Monastery, Rinpoche travels widely, teaching with clarity, humor and precision. Rinpoche's kindness and knowledge is felt by everyone who has the good fortune of hearing him.

At the age of seven, His Eminence Namkha Drimed Rabjam Rinpoche began studying with the great terton Chojung Lingpa and has received teachings from HH the XIV Dalai Lama; HH the Karmapa XVI; Dudjom Drodul Lingpa; and Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. His Eminence Namkha Drimed Rabjam Rinpoche is a recognized terton as well as an expert in the wisdom of Lord Gesar of Ling. He is the spiritual head of the Ripa Ladrang Foundation and teaches extensively in India, Nepal, Bhutan, and more recently in the Western hemisphere, including the United States and Canada.

Established in 1971, the Shambhala Meditation Center of New York is part of an international community of urban meditation and rural retreat centers founded by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and further developed by his son and lineage holder Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. Our center, located in Manhattan’s Chelsea district, offers daily public meditation, a core curriculum of Buddhist and Shambhala teachings, as well as training in advanced contemplative practices. We invite you to explore our diverse programs designed to help New Yorkers of all traditions discover their inherent sanity, gentleness and humor.
