Weekly Dharma Gathering
Every Tuesday, 7pm
118 W. 22nd St.
($5 suggested donation)
With Acharya Eric Spiegel, Jane Kolleeny, and other senior teachers of the Shambhala Buddhist tradition.
Newcomers and experienced practitioners are invited to join us for a weekly dharma gathering to explore the provocative teachings of Buddhism and Shambhala. Each week begins with a half- hour group meditation practice followed by a talk, discussion and reception. For those just entering the path, introductory meditation instruction is also provided.
The dharma gathering is an opportunity to meditate in a supportive group setting, to learn about how to apply the principles of meditation to everyday lif e, and to meet and mingle with fellow practitioners. Bring your friends.
WDG is currently on summer hiatus.

ACHARYA ERIC P. SPIEGEL Eric Spiegel is an Acharya (senior teacher) in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition. After helping to found the Naropa Institute in Boulder in the 1970s, Eric returned to New York where he worked on Wall Street for 22 years, exploring the intersections between the view of meditation and “worldly” activity. He has worked extensively with people with HIV/AIDS and cancer, helping them to explore the dharma as their situations evolve, and also teaches yoga.
JANE KOLLEENY Jane Kolleeny has been teaching Buddhism and Shambhala Training since the late 1970s. Originally from Boulder, Colorado, she taught there for many years, worked as an administrator at Naropa University, as an editor at Shambhala Publications and served as managing editor of Shambhala Sun Magazine. In the mid-eighties, she moved to New York and began teaching at the Shambhala Meditation Center of New York.
JOHN BAKER met CHÖGYAM TRUNGPA , the founder of Shambhala Training, in 1970 and has been a student and teacher of the Shambhala Buddhist teachings since that time. John is the co-editor of the books Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism and The Myth of Freedom. He is a co-founder and former CEO of Naropa Institute (now Naropa University).
